Now that Go Penguins has come to an end we would like to say a heartfelt ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who helped make the event such a huge success, including our talented and creative artists, incredible sponsors, the 45,000 school children who took part , our creative communities and the 500,000 visitors to the trail; we couldn’t have done it without you – and let’s not forget the amazing £40,000 you all helped raise for charity!!

We hope that the greatest legacy of Go Penguins is Merseyside’s better understanding of our planet. Let’s keep up the good work of the Penguins; one small step from us all will amount to great strides in the race against climate change.

Winners of the Paint Your Own Penguin Competition

Huge thanks to the hundreds of wonderful artists who entered the competition sponsored by Home Bargains – the quality of the entries was very high and the judges had a difficult task to pick the winners.  Professional artists are now set to create the 3ft versions of the winning entries and you will be able to see them on the site very shortly.

Lennon by Faye Hannaway, Age: 5 Description: He is a peace penguin and has butterflies painted on him. Pixie Party by Erin Murphy, Age: 12 Description: On my penguin there is a picture of a converted toad stool inhabbited by pixies. It has a wonky white fence and an american mailbox. Peisly the Paisley Penguin by Emma Ambrose, Age: 21 Description: Peisly was made on impulse when i was stuck for ideas for a friends birthday gift. He was inspired by the wrapping paper i bought that day. Hopefully he is not to well camouflaged. Aunt Arctica by Rosemary Scragg, Retired Teacher Description: Complete with floral hat and handbag, Penguin Aunt Arctica watches the changing face of Liverpool with pride, and keeps a Miss Marple eye on would-be trouble makers!
